My name is Cara-Leigh and I am the very proud Mommy to 2 wonderful fur babies, my beautiful 16 year old kitty, Phoebe, and my adorable 2 1/2 yr. old, 4 lb. Chihuahua, Sweet Pea. Both of them are rescues and both of them mean the world to me! 

When Phoebe's last surviving daughter, Willow, passed away last year, Phoebe was distraught and very lonely. So I searched for a little companion for her and little buddy for me to go everywhere with. That's when I saw Sweet Pea's picture on the pet food store wall. 

Sweet Pea had been the much-loved and pampered puppy of a dying man. She was absolutely devoted to him and watched him die a slow, torturous death from cancer. Sweet Pea was devastated and heartbroken. 

When I got Sweet Pea, she was distraught and withdrawn. I got her on a Sunday evening and it wasn't until Wednesday evening, when she was reluctantly sitting on my lap, that she jumped up, turned to face me and started vigorously kissing my whole face. I had just been adopted and the feeling was VERY mutual! We have been inseparable ever since. 

Due to money issues, it wasn't until 4 months later that I took Sweet Pea in for her 1st check up at the vet. The news was devastating! Sweet Pea has an enlarged heart, a heart valve that doesn't close properly, several rotten, abscessed and loose teeth and the rest of her teeth are covered in heavy plaque! 

As I'm sure you are aware, the bacteria from her abscesses is now coursing through her tiny body and causing further damage to her poor little heart, so the dental work is an absolute necessity at this point. 

The dental bill, ALONE, is estimated at $1130.70 but due to her heart condition and how tiny she is, there may be complications that come up that will raise that price considerably! We won't know that until the time comes.

I feel horrible about having to ask for help with this but I am on a disability pension and am unable to cover these expenses. I am hoping that there are compassionate people out there that will be moved to help this precious pup. 

Every penny I receive will go directly to her medical and dental care and if there is any left over, it will go into a bank account just for Sweet Pea's future medical/dental needs so that she will always receive the necessary care as soon as problems arise. 

For such a young pup, she's gone through some sad and tough times but she is very happy now and loved more than you can imagine. She is my heart, my best buddy and my constant companion. I always say that Sweet Pea rescued me right back.
