Nepal has experienced its worst earthquake in living memory killing over 8,000 people and destroying over 160,000 homes across the country.

Thank you for your interest in helping those who have been effected by Nepal's recent earthquake.

My name is  Rachel Russell and I live in London with my Nepalese husband. In 2009 I taught English at a school in a small rural village called Ghalel. Whilst I was there I fell in love with this country and its people. I have been back many times, sometimes with British friends to work at the school and to help the village.

As you have heard there was a devastating earthquake 25 April 2015.  We are fortunate that my husband's family was not hurt, however in the district of Lwang, which covers 9 villages including Ghalel, over 60 homes has been badly damaged. These farming villages are located in the foothills of the Himalaya over two hours away by a bumpy jeep ride from Nepal’s second city of Pokhara, west of Nepal. The people who live here have a basic life supported by farming with barely enough money to support themselves. Building materials in Nepal are expensive and transportation is costly and infrequent.

Each home needs a donation of around £50 to help repair the damage. Please help us to raise £8000 for building materials and transportation costs, so the people there can rebuild their homes and their lives. Even a donation as little as £5 would be gratefully received.

All the money raised will be sent directly to Nepal to a local representative who will give the money to each village management committee. The funds will then be divided between the home owners.

We will continue to post pictures showing progress so you can see how your money is helping.

Thank you so much for your donation and helping those who need it most.
