Kitty’s Story:
In February 2014 Kitty’s life suddenly changed! The doctor gave the shocking news of advance stage III breast cancer that spread throughout the left breast, leaving her without work. She is now dealing with the struggle of medical bills and household expenses. Kitty went through 4 months of Chemotherapy, which uses powerful drugs to target and destroy cancer cells. She unfortunately had many of the side effects that came with chemo starting with nausea and her taste for food was replaced with a metal aftertaste. Kitty tried to stay active and exercise regularly, but due to her treatments, she became extremely tired and developed blood clots in one of her legs and her lungs. She was admitted into the hospital for a couple of days to thin her blood and monitor the clots. She left the hospital in good health, but under doctor's orders she has to give herself a shot everyday for the next year. Kitty also experienced numbing of her fingertips and toes, a side affect that could possibly be permanent. But those battles are nothing compared to the over all war of a mastectomy in August. She is only having one breast removed because of the high risk of blood loss and blood clots. She will have the other breast removed at a later date. Followed by physical therapy and six weeks of radiation therapy. Some days are harder than others, but Kitty is living her life one day at a time and is very grateful for the love and support from her family and friends.
“And once the storm is over you won’t remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won’t even be sure, in fact, whether the storm is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the storm you won’t be the same person who walked in.” -Unknown
Mission:
Our mother is a strong and proud woman that would never ask for anything but love and prayers. But when a person goes through a life changing experience like cancer, you have to also go through the repercussions that it comes with. The inability to work is the perfect example and the most realistic situation people who are battling cancer go through. It hurts her that she can’t work which feeds more stress to the battle at hand. Being the man that he is, my father with no question, stepped up and has been working double shifts and picking up hours every chance he gets. This mission is for the family, to help pay for medical bills and household expenses. Hoping this will help, even if it gives my parents one day of rest.
Thank you:
My mother prides herself on family and that’s what this is, family coming together to support in every way we can. When I found out my mom had cancer it was 3am and I was in California. Not being able to be there for her physically was hard, but my prayers reach her everyday. Her strength is what’s getting us through the storm to sunny days. Thank you to everyone for your generosity but most of all everyone’s good wishes and prayers.
Always,
Anisha
