Lindsay Andersen hasn't added a story.
Sneakers was a 5/6 month old Pit who was brought into Muncie Animal Shelter back in July 2013 that our family agreed to foster. They weren't quite sure what happened to his leg, however we think it may have been tied off with cable wire as it was apparent that something had been wrapped around his leg. When It's a Pittie Rescue rescued Sneakers his wound on his leg looked nothing like it did from their pics and they had him for 5 days and had not treated him properly. There was a long road to recovery for this pup. For 2 weeks AWCM treated Sneakers to try and save his leg. The leg began to heal with the proper antibiotics and care. However, Sneakers' infection was so bad that after a week of treatment his toes began to fall off and he would have a clubbed foot needing either a prosthetic paw or a full leg amputation. Due to possible complications of prosthesis the rescue and I both decided it was best to amputate. Within 24 hours post operation, Sneakers was a finally the happy pup he needed to be and on his way to recovery. Sneakers now enjoys his life with his new family whom are foster failures and love him dearly.
Now for the hard news that I have been struggling with over the past 9 months. After attending daycare back in September, Sneakers had a "incident". I asked for video coverage of what happened and the daycare told me their system does not allow for them to go back and view the "incident". Well needless to say I don't know what is the truth about what happened. Story changed from 3 different people and now Sneakers has become a reactive dog. I am a Certified Professional Dog Trainer, so I've been working very hard with Sneakers to help his reactive issues. Sneakers attended a group obedience class back in March, which he was showing great signs of improvement with the use of a barrier. Well Sneakers 4th session he had a set back when we tried to sit with the class for the first time. Therfore, I decided to pull him from the class as the issues were becoming worse.
Now 3 months have gone by and Sneakers has had his good days and some really bad days. I believe as a CPDT, that Sneakers has something mentally going on that I just cannot cure on my own. I need help, I'm crying out for it. It's been a very emotional time for me as I love this dog with all my heart. I may have rescued him, but he truly rescued me. I am heartbroken to see him go into these episode of serious set backs. But my family owes it to Sneakers to do whatever it takes and a Veterinary Behaviorist is the next step for him. I was told just the consultation alone was going to cost $400-$500. I am not even sure how much overall this is going to cost so I am seeking out for help through all of you and all of Sneakers' FB fans. This was extremely hard for me to reach out and ask for help finacially. I just want to be able to give this my all.
So please if you can help Sneakers and myself by donating for his care, I would so greatly appreciate it. All I want for him is just to be the happy dog that he once was outside of his home. I cry everyday because his turn for the worse saddens me because he is so good inside our home. When Sneakers goes outside his anxiety and stress is over the top. Please if you can donate anything, nothing is ever too little. Thank you and God bless. Please keep us in your prayers.
