To view the actual fund raising page, go to http://apps.facebook.com/fundrazr/activity/995e6f72696d456486b2ee76064fa47e Tyson is a three year old English Mastiff. He was recently diagnosed with fibrosarcoma in his back right leg. After some radiation treatments, his leg ended up fracturing. The only choices were to put him to sleep or to amputate. Of course we chose amputation because he is my son and I am not just going to let him go like that. The doctors said he would be in a lot less pain with his leg off because of the bone fracture and all the pain the tumor was causing him. Currently he is still recovering from his leg amputation which was two weeks ago. He has three types of bacteria he is fighting off in his leg. Two of them respond well to antibiotics, but the last one is a "nasty" one according to my vet and is going to be hard to get rid of. He walks about 30ft with my help of supporting his back area with a sling and then he is exhausted. He is doing very well and still has a long way to go in order to get back to being fully healthy to where he can walk on his own. He will need underwater therapy, rehab, and lots of love. Tyson is loved by many! He has touched the lives and hearts of everyone he has met! He is a gentle giant and just wants to love on everyone. He loves seeing people and meeting new people. He just wants to be everyones best friend. He has been an inspiration for me, my family, and all of those who know him and know what he has been through. I love him just like I would a son if I had one and that will never change. I WILL do whatever it takes to always make him better as long as he can be happy, healthy, pain free, and can enjoy life. I truly believe I made the right decision because even though his leg is gone, he is back to his old lovable self and just thinks he is a little 5 lb. puppy who wants to play all the time. He was at Purdue Vet Hospital for 5 days, then transfered to my local vet because he was not doing well at all there. Then he spent a week there before I got to bring him home. Tonight I had to bring him back to the vet because he has a big infection in his back leg and it needs drained asap. The vet is keeping him again overnight and draining the site and starting antibiotic injections. All of this is going to cost a lot of money and will be even more as time goes on. He is going to need therapy and rehab, a doggie wheelchair, a rear support sling, doggie boots, and other materials to help him adjust to life on three legs. He is a strong, determined dog who loves life and will not just give up easily. He will make it through all of this and we are all praying that his amputation cured him of cancer and that it has not spread to any other part of his body. We won't know anything for months down the road though. I need everyones help I can get. Tyson's bill is more than ever expected, but it is my son's life and money is not compariable to that. Every dontation will go directly towards paying off his two vet bills, for his medications, rehab and therapy, to purcahse a doggie wheelchair, sling, and boots, or to buy his special weightloss dogfood as he needs to loose 40 lbs., to buy his additional supplements for recovery, or towards all of his follow-up treatments and tests to check for spreading of the cancer. Please donate what you can and help be a part of making my son's life more enjoyable. He would touch your heart if you knew him and if he could talk he would definitely say thank you from the bottom of his big heart. He is a gentle giant and does not deserve to go through all he has been with cancer, but we are all being positive and there with him every step of the way. Please donate what you can, and thank you very much for all of your donations, support, and words. All of you will be a very big help in helping out his life! Thank you again for your help and please view Tyson's video of him relaxing on the couch the first night I got him home! All transactions are very secure as they are done through Pay Pal!
