Debbie Park Bobshosky hasn't added a story.
The sad story of senior girl LOVA began back in April 2016 when
her homeless owner, Jose reached out for help as she had been in
severe pain for several weeks. Someone shot Lova with a BB gun and
fractured her leg with a blunt object. Fortunately with the help of
donations from many kind hearted and giving people, Lova had surgery
on that leg and had her other medical needs met. Her homeless owner
relinquished her to keep her safe from harms way and so she could
have a better life…. a very selfless act all because he loved his
Lova so much.
My good friend Erin Heart was the person to pick her up from her
owner on that rainy day and rush her to my veterinarian. Erin
visited Lova daily to check on her, give her treats and lots of TLC.
When Lova was finally ready to be released after surgery, Erin
offered to foster Lova until she fully recovered. Little did Erin
know at that time that she would fall in love with Lova, and vice
versa. Erin has given Lova the best forever home where she loves
life as the alpha in the pack. Lova also still gets to see her
former owner, Jose.
Periodically over time after the surgery, Lova would still
experience pain and discomfort until this day. Normally antibiotics
and pain medicine would help, but for over a month now, poor Lovie
is still in pain and lifting that leg again. We’re seeing that same
concerned look of worry and pain on her face with lots of panting as
we did back when she first came to us. Multiple x-rays and over a
year of veterinarian visits have concluded that it is now necessary
to amputate her leg in order to free her of pain. As sad and tragic
as this is, it is what is best for Lova to relieve her from pain for
good. Lova is such a strong, determined, and resilient senior and we
believe she will overcome the loss of her leg and thrive in a life
without pain.
Lova’s mom has experienced extremely high veterinarian bills
with Lova and her other furry babies in the last year, on top of
loss in other areas. Though she plans to pay for Lova and didn't ask
me to set up a fundraiser, still I'd love for us to show her our
support and appreciation for taking such good care of Lova. For many
of us Lova feels like "our" dog as we've watched her
journey. And, Erin would help any of us if the situation were
reversed as she is very active in helping other dogs and owners. I
am kindly asking if anyone is able to help Lova, even just a small
amount, anything will help. $5, $10, $20 dollars all add up. Lova’s
surgery for her leg amputation is estimated to be $1300 (includes a rescue
discount) at Erin's veterinarian in Mission Viejo. Donations may be
sent directly to Erin at her PayPal at emehartigan@yahoo.com.
Updates will be posted on this fundraiser after surgery. Thank you
in advance for sharing and/or donating Lova’s fundraiser!
