My son Jamal Hogan is falsely being accused of using excessive while he was employed as a Police Sgt. for the State of New Jersey Human Services Police Department. He was unjustly fired after serving 9 1/2 years on the force.

My son Jamal Hogan is falsely being accused of using excessive force while he was employed as a Police Sgt. for the State of New Jersey Human Services Police Department. He was unjustly fired after serving 9 1/2 years on the force.  Many times I have observed in the news of Officers getting preferential treatment and desk duty when similar incidents occur.  Jamal was fired within a few months of the incident and was given limited suspension with pay before losing all medical benefits, pay and benefits. He has also had absolutely no help from his police union after repeatedly asking for representation and funds to help in his defense.

Jamal is a 20 year veteran of the NJ Air National Guard.  He serves as a medic, an LPN Nurse and a Certified Military Medical Provider also called an Independent Duty Medical Technician.  He has been awarded countless accomodations  for his bravery and acts of courage as he sought to save lives, especially during his 3 tours in Iraq.  As a student in Kean College he assisted in aiding victims shortly after the dorm fire at Seton Hall University.  On September 11, 2001, he gathered a group of fellow EMT's and raced over to aid victims of the World Trade Center with Kean Emergency Medical Services against my wishes. He currently volunteers with his Fraternity Kappa Alpha Psi Frat Inc. to feed the homeless once a month, and he works with veteran organizations to provide medical care for indigent veterans mutiple times per year with Operation Stand Down and has been recognized for his efforts.

Tsgt Hogan is the father of 5 children. Three of his children are still at home.  One child is quite challenged with autism.  During the last 2 years Jamal has exhausted all of his funds with legal fees and is in danger of foreclosure on his home. He is fighting to reclaim his position as a State Police Officer, reclaim the confidence that was lost in him from his military unit in the NJ Air National Guard due to these false allegations, continue to  financially support his children as the sole provider, and restore his very name.

My son continues to serve our country, fight for our freedom, and help others.  Now it is urgent that you join the fight to help him resolve his legal challenges.  Thank you so much from a mother.
