Ruby Ranch is a small pig sanctuary in Kenilworth Ontario that opened in 2008.  We are currently home to 24 pigs of all shapes and sizes, many of them elderly. We also care for 2 sheep and 7 chickens. We have 3 dogs and 3 cats who round out our rescued family. 

We (the humans) live as frugally as possible. We cut no corners when it comes to the animals though. Top quality food and our own home grown organic hay. 

Winters are always the hardest to keep our heads above water. This year our hay crop wasn't the best, and we will be out of hay in about a months time. We will need to purchase it, as well as straw for bedding. Our hydro bill doubles, due to running heat lamps and space heaters and the furnace. Filling the propane tank is a huge expense. We are trying to make do without propane, just running the fireplace and fan, but wood is costly too. Our feed bill is about $150 per week for the pigs alone. 

I have been out of work for a while now, (not from lack of trying) but our remote location and having only one vehicle is a huge factor. I have been supplementing our income by selling on eBay, but we are still falling far short. 

We are asking for help to keep us operational. We try our best to be self-sufficient, but occassionally, we just need to reach out. 

Please help us get through the winter. Donations drop off drastically at this time, the time we need it most. Ruby Ranch is a labour of love for us, we don't mind doing the day to day chores alone at all, but we need your help to keep up with the rising costs.
