RCMP Const. Keith Bennett remains in hospital in Regina with serious internal injuries, suffered when he was struck by a vehicle, while on duty.
Bennett, 42, is from Stephenville, N.L., and is currently stationed at the White Butte detachment of the RCMP in Saskatchewan, a rural detachment just east of Regina.
Const. Bennett was injured in an incident early Sunday morning as he and two other officers were responding to a complaint about a party.
Bennett and the other officers were on a rural road about nine kilometres east of Regina around 1 a.m. CST and were in the process of arresting an adult male, in relation to the complaint.
RCMP said the officers then noticed an SUV was on the road, and coming into their path. One officer was able to avoid the vehicle. Bennett was trying to get their suspect, and himself, out of harm's way but the two of them were struck by the SUV.
RCMP said Bennett and the man who was being arrested both needed
treatment in hospital.
His wife, Heather Bennett, who is from North West River, Labrador and is also an RCMP officer stationed in Saskatchewan, told CBC News that she'd been in and out of meetings with doctors on Monday.

She said he could have easily died on Sunday. Heather Bennett said Keith hasn't been table to talk to her yet, but she said he knows that she's at his bedside.
"He knows I'm there and he can squeeze my hand there to answer questions," she said.
