I use to enjoy getting up in the morning and taking my daughter to school. Tell her I love her as she heads to class. After which I would head to work, do my 8 to 10 hours each day, whatever was needed of me. I worked for a small, Father and Son Auito Repair shop. Even though they weren't my family it still was a job I enjoyed. Then things started to change. From what I knew the owners taxes started going up, and even though it was a State Certified Smog Station, BAR would come by more often and tryed to find ways to fine the shop. It became depressing, and I started to loathe going to work. It got to a point where I was showing up 5 - 10 minutes late which eventually caused the owner to let me go. I for the first time in 13 years was unemployed.I was a single father with bills, and started getting unemployement. Then about eight months into getting benefits I found a job, but it was less than 16 hours a week, as a cook. It seemed the manager there was told to cut hours to less than 28 a week for all employees. This was to keep the owner from having to pay for medical Insurance for all the employees.and not be fined as well. Soon after The job was cut again and I was back on unemployement. Then out of the blue the state stopped paying my claim based on my previous employer stated I worked full time at 40 hours a week, but I only claimed 16 each week. So without any sort of evidence to show I worked 40 hours the state took their word for it. I appealed a total of 8 cases they had and 4 cases were reversed after I showed them my hours which I printed from my employers payroll site. The other four cases have yet to be decided. So needless to say I still have not been payed in well over 5 months. My daughter and I were evicted from our place, and after putting all our pocessions in storage, they to were lost after I was unable to pay the monthly rent. I am staying with my mother, without my daughter here to brighten my day. I have been searching frantically for work, nobody has given me a job, or an interview for that matter. It seems people are on a hiring freeze until they know what effects the Afordable Care Act will have on their business. So even though I have years experience in foood service,(an industry that by 2020 will need the most new employees) and as an Automotive Service Advisor, I must rely on Unemployment benefits that I do not get. Of course EDD decided to cut all their phone representatives hours in half(stating Federal Sequestration cuts as the reason) so it is near impossible to speak with one given the millions on unemployment.
It seems there are many people in the nation who are in far
worse shape then I.So I won't say I am defeated. I feel that the
elected officials in D.C. have had some pretty tough times as well.
Yet they chose to be representing all Americans . However with all
the finger pointing, and bickering they are doing they are only
hurting America as a whole. Somebody just needs to stand up and tell
them blame won't fix this nation. Arguing is not the same as
debating. Most importantly they need to be reminded that it is not
what any of them want to do, all their personal agenda nonsense.
They were sent there by voting Americans to represent America, to
let American's nation wide have a voice, and not for personal
agendas not for their personal ideology but for the ideology of Americans.
In May Americans from all over, are planning to march in D.C., in a peaceful protest , each having their own story. No mattter the person sex, mental capability, sexual orientation, or skin color, they will all be Americans. To be able to march with them, to share my story along side them, would be a gift that comes only second to the birth of my daughter. I could only hope to have that chance, and I am unable to do this without help.
