Seeds of Hope is a community-powered fund supporting Kenyan families through medical care, education access, food security and small business empowerment.

By planting small seeds of support, we help individuals and families grow resilience, dignity, and possibility... today and for the generations to come.

What started with one-off donations when needs arose during our time in village Africa, h as now grown into a movement of human-to-human generosity where your small contributions can literally change the lives of others. 

Because we are not a big organisation with overheads, staff and admin fees, every cent goes to the individuals and families intended. 

Examples of Support:

• Doreen, a mother and widow has the lupus autoimmune condition - we provide essential medicine $80/month and are exploring natural remedies
• Elal, a teen girl who was walking very far to school each day now has a bike ($250)
• Nyang'idi Development group is mobilising to start a sugarcane juice business and needs start-up funds ($300 machine, plus farming inputs, bottles and labels)
• School fees: Many families struggle to afford school fees and so their children are punished (yes they still cane kids here!) and sent home. Short term we want to sponsor school fees for students ($200-$500/year)
• The long-term vision is a homeschooling hub with books, art supplies, musical instruments internet access, computers and subscriptions to online learning platforms. Sponsoring elders to revitalise culture and one-day with international visitors who come to share their skills too! The first steps have begun!
• In Kenya, there is no free healthcare. If someone needs urgent medical attention they are treated but they are not allowed to leave the hospital until they have paid their bill. There are armed guards at the door! So people have to stay like prisoners (while their bill keeps rising) until someone can pay. One mother and child were moved to the morgue (to sleep with dead people!!) we stepped in and paid their bill so they could leave and go home. There are shocking stories like this every month.
• A single mother teacher was being mistreated at her job and sometimes not paid for months. One kind sponsor offered to cover her wages ($100/month) so now she can teach from the village, empowering future generations of learners. 
• We have sponsored permaculture education and tree planting initiatives and will continue these for enhanced food security. Valuing Indigenous seeds and practices.

We are guided by the needs of the local community and individuals reaching out for help.
