My name is Kristina, and I’m living with multiple sclerosis (MS), along with several other health issues. Life has become increasingly difficult, and I’ve reached a point where I need to ask for help – something I never thought I’d have to do.

I live with my boyfriend, who is my entire world and my biggest support. He’s the only one working right now, and no matter how hard he tries, his paycheck just isn’t enough to cover all our living expenses. We’re renting an apartment, and every month is a struggle to afford rent, bills, food, and the supplements I need to manage my symptoms. Healthy food and proper care are so important for my condition – but often out of reach.

I’ve had to leave or was fired from several jobs because employers didn’t understand my illness. MS comes with a lot of fatigue, pain, and the need for regular breaks and treatment. My immune system is also very weak due to immunosuppressants I take, which means I get sick often.

One of the hardest parts is that from the outside, I often look “fine.” I’m young and I look healthy, so people assume nothing is wrong – but inside, it’s a different story. MS is an invisible illness, and like many others, I carry that burden quietly every day. I deeply feel for everyone living with mental health struggles or invisible conditions while also facing financial hardship. You are not alone.

The healthcare system in Croatia makes things even harder. Appointments with specialists can take months or even a year. Public healthcare is overburdened and underfunded, and we can’t afford private doctors.

I try to stay grateful. I know there are people with MS who can no longer walk, and I remind myself every day to appreciate that I still can. But even with that gratitude, the emotional and financial weight can be too much at times.

We dream of one day owning a home or getting married – but right now, just surviving month to month feels overwhelming. Our families are also struggling with health and unable to help financially or medically.

I don’t have a specific fundraising goal – any amount of help, no matter how small, would truly make a difference for us. Whether it’s financial support or simply sharing this page, it means the world.
