About me

Hi I’m Aziz, a senior at Lyons Township High School at one of Chicago suburbs. Outside school, I like hanging out with my friends, playing soccer, and wrestling (for my high school). I love animals and care about their well-being and today, I want to tell you a story of that you have never heard before.

The shelter

Uzbekistan is a post-Soviet country of the size of California with a population of about 33 million and not a single animal shelter, until recently. The founders of the shelter spent four years fighting and, finally, local authorities of Kibray district of Tashkent region provided three hectares (7.4 acres) of land. This is how story of HAYOT (LIFE from Uzbek) animal shelter started. Presently, it is a caring home for about 1800 dogs and cats that were homeless, daily they save the lives of 20-30 animals that are brought by local animal control/removal services or people who find them on the streets.

The new home

Some local companies –private sponsors have donated construction materials so we could build temporary living areas, administrative building as well as a kitchen - the shelter is in mountainous area and very windy which makes cooking quite a challenging task.

Presently, they are on a mission to build a new modern facility with more comfortable living areas, a quarantine zone, nice kitchen, and even a new vet clinic. This will allow them to take care of all of our furry friends coming to the organization from the streets (stray dogs/cats), animal extermination facilities, abandoned homes, and etc. The new facilities will include clinic to provide vaccinations, basic surgeries, vet treatment, birth, and spaying/neutering on the territory of Tashkent and the Tashkent region for a total population of about 7 million people.
