The good news is that new arrivals were outnumbered by dogs going to new homes again this month.  Caki and his Team have worked like demons to get as many dogs as possible to safety before the cruel Bosnian winter takes a strangle-hold.  Puppies, oldies and short-coated dogs face near-certain death in sub-zero temperatures if they cannot find a place of safety.

Dogs who reached safe havens this month include the five September Orphans, Liquorice, Kess, Lola, Fudge and Marta, abandoned to die at a busy intersection, and little Sasha, found alone under a wrecked car, who finds herself suddenly with a future.

Lucinda, sister/stepmom to the Summer Orphans, has been homed in the UK, as have the two survivors of that litter, Princess and Queenie (now Roo).  Little Trip, who lost all her babies in the disease-ridden Praca "shelter", Lenga who was bereft when her carer died and had no-one to feed her, Yelena who was so terrified in Praca that she just sat with her face to the wall - all these cruelly abused and terrified dogs now have the opportunity to accept love and human friendship.  Dogs like Robbie, disposed of by being hurled into a freezing river in January, have opened their hearts to human kindness, and have found homes.  Oliver,another Praca survivor, waited for so long he had given up hope, but has now been thrown a lifeline for rehab in the UK too.

Sadly we lost the young tornjak Kojo, who's frail body just couldn't cope with all he's been through.  RIP Kojo.

New arrivals include Arlo and Yogi (who has a deformed jaw), who's original rescuer lost her job and couldn't help them any more,  Chris, Elvis and Lisa (pupppies found at a bus stop), as well as Amy, April,  Bosun, Bravo (who was lucky enough to leave for a new home within the month!), Caki, Dinah, Han Solo, Kiri, Nera, Sansa and Secret (several of whom actually arrived earlier, but hadn't made onto the Fundrazr list).

The route to safety involves both veterinary treatment, vaccinations and legal certification, in order to ensure all dogs are healthy and fit to start new lives in other countries.  This all takes hard work, dedication ... and a great deal of money!  Without the generosity of you, Caki’s worldwide family of wonderful supporters, these dogs would not stand a chance.  Please remember Caki’s Furry Family this Festive Season. FUNDRAZR FEES:  If you are using PayPal then Fundrazr will only work properly with a minimum €5 donation PLUS a minimum €1 "donation" or "tip" to Fundrazr.  Smaller donations, and or donations with the Fundrazr "tip" set to zero, are automatically refunded via PayPal (but you can of course still make a direct payment to Caki's PayPal - see above).

TAX:  The Bosnian authorities have retrospectively imposed a 10% tax on all PayPal and other electronic payments to private individuals received from overseas.  As a result we have to add a further 10% to cover this cost.  Caki is working with professional advisers to find how best to minimise this extra cost, and the potentially crippling retrospective liability: PLEASE MARK YOUR DONATIONS as "GIFT".
