Debbie Park Bobshosky hasn't added a story.
On 7/27th Sonny and his homeless owner of many years was
approached by Good Sam, Nelly as Sonny appeared to be in very poor
condition and suffering. His owner agreed to relinquish his 8 yr
old boy in order for him to get medical attention ASAP. Sonny was
not able to walk and appeared to have had difficulty in breathing,
very lethargic, had very swollen legs and paws, a large mass
on his stomach, and hasn't had much of an appetite. His owner
said he's been in this condition for about a month now and
didn't know how to help him feel better
:-(
Nelly rushed Sonny to my vet that afternoon to get
immediate medical attention. His x-ray showed he may have
Lymphoma but his bloodwork results that came back on 7/30th
confirmed it and he was already in the late stages of this
cancer (Stage 3). He was given fluids and steroids the entire
time but additional treatments were added on 7/30th including a
low dose of chemo. Sadly due to Sonny already being in the late
stages of cancer and having been so weak for a long period, his
poor body couldn't take the treatment and passed away the
morning of 7/31st. I was assured by the doctor that he wasn't
alone, but surrounded by staff giving him love and comfort until
he crossed.
Nelly and I had high hopes that Sonny would have responded to treatment to eventually being released into a great hospice foster home so he could have been spoiled rotten in a comfortable and loving home environment before it was his time, but that unfortunately did not happen. Such a sad ending for such a sweet boy that's been suffering for a long time. Life is so unfair.
I have requested to have Sonny privately cremated and have a couple of his paw prints made in hopes that Nelly can find his owner again one day to give his boy back. Otherwise I know Nelly would forever cherish his ashes at her home.
I now desperately need help in paying down Sonny's medical bill of $1035 at Huntington Pet Vet in Huntington Beach, CA (714-969-0211). Donations in any amount will be greatly appreciated on this fundraiser or called in directly to the vet. If calling in a donation, please be sure to mention it's for Sonny under Debbie Bobshosky's account. Thank you so much in advance for your support.
RIP Sonny... we love you and will never forget you sweetheart xxoxo
