Danny Williams hasn't added a story.
Hello, my name is Todd WIlliams, Danny's nephew, and I am setting up this site for him and his family. All donations go directly to their bank account.
Cause: Help support Danny Williams while he battles leukemia and awaits a bone marrow transplant. Danny is receiving medical care at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, 300 miles away from his home, and needs your help with living expenses.
Story: For those of you that know Danny, his character needs no description – kind hearted, cornerstone of the community, and Southern charmer. He would be the first to help anyone in need, always with a warm smile and a twinkle in his eye. The nurses and doctors who helped him at St. Dominic’s Hospital during his first battle with leukemia would attest he’s the type of person you wonder how something like leukemia could happen to him.
Danny thought he beat the cancer when he went into remission, however, when it came back his doctors recommended he go to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, which specializes in treating leukemia. Even though the medical center is 300 miles from home, Danny knew this was his best chance for successful treatment. Danny is being treated with chemotherapy and must be in the vicinity of hospital to receive supportive care such as blood transfusions or electrolyte replacement. Since his immune system is compromised as a result of the chemotherapy and he is unable to fight off an infection, he needs be admitted to the hospital if his temperature goes above 100˚F. While Medicare pays for his hospital bills, Danny pays $2300 per month in rent for him and Jean to live near the hospital.
When I visited Uncle Danny in December he was in good spirits and his faith is strong, but it is exhausting travelling to see the doctors every day in addition to the treatments he is receiving. With your financial help he can focus on getting better without the stress of worrying about the expenses. Danny has not found a bone marrow match yet and needs to be in remission to accept the donated bone marrow. The best case scenario—that he will be able to return home to Mississippi in May—will cost them at least $14,000 in living expenses.
Please keep my Uncle Danny in your thoughts and prayers, and help out with his living expenses if you are able. I also ask that if you have not been tested to see if you could potentially be a bone marrow match for Danny, please consider this as well. The testing only requires a cheek swab and is offered for free from matching organizations. He will get through this with everyone’s help!
