Originally from Pond Inlet, Nunavut, Atiqtalaaq/"Q" Uuttuvak (age 8) and Kalai Uuttuvak (age 6) have always had a passion for hockey. After playing in several places across Canada, the boys are now playing competitive hockey in Ottawa, ON. Q was ranked #1 at his last hockey tournament out of all the players there. Kalai also was a top scorer at his last Tim Bits Tournament. Q was recently invited to be apart of the AAA Selects Hockey Development Hockey team playing over in Europe this summer. The trip to Europe includes stops in Germany, Austria and Italy starting from August 8th and running until August 17th, 2014. The cost of the Europe Hockey Tour will be $2,200 and $1,400 for the airfare, totalling $3,600/passenger. Kalai was invited to be apart of the Competitive IP Selects Hockey Development Hockey team this summer too traveling to places like Toronto, Montreal and etc. The total cost for both boys this summer is $10,000. Their mother, Anita Uuttuvak is a single parent and a full time student at the University of Ottawa so funds are limited in their household. The boys work extremely hard at the sport of hockey and they love the game immensely! The boys' hockey is a priority in their life. In the past, they have made due by making hockey boards out of old pizza boxes or making hockey pucks out of old socks. Their drive and passion for the ice starts from when he gets up in the morning, until he goes to bed. So it is their dream to get funding this year for your hockey goals and aspirations!
