Suzanne Capasso hasn't added a story.
Tater and Angel are two of my 10 dogs that live with me. Over the years, I have had many foster dogs come in and out that I have managed to pay for there medical expenses, regardless of what they have needed. Only 4 of the dogs in my home are mine, all the others belong to various rescues in NE Florida. Now, it is time for 2 of MY 4 dogs to need medical attention and my funds are low due to having had recent and high vet expenses for one of my fosters, Sugar. So low that I may not be able to help Tater.
Last week, Angel, my 12 yr old lab mix, went to the emergency vet on Monday due to unexplained bleeding from her vaginal area. She has been followed by the vet for the last 2 years and was diagnosed with having had a "sloppy spay" over a decade ago. She had part of her uterus and an ovary left in her body but since it hadn't caused her a probelm and her age, I decided against surgery back in April this year. The e-vet said they couldn't do anything for her and that she would be ok to go home to see her regular vet ASAP. So, that is what we did. Upon examination, a mass was found that was causing the bleeding and it was thought that it was attached to the uterun stump remaining. She did need exploratory surgery, so that is what I did. Her surgery came to about $3,200 because the surgery was more more extensive than thought. They removed that lump, the remainder of her female parts, and an additional lump that was found. The lumps have been sent for a biopsy and we will find out the results this week. Overall she is recovering well. As you can imagine, for me to get her this surgery, it required me to max out credit cards even after I requested the limits be raised.
During the week, Tater, my 9 yr old collie/chow mix, was not wanting to eat and being picky about food. Tater is a little quirky so we thought it was just her but after too many days and being offered GOOD food any dog shouldn't be able to resist, nothing changed. Saturday, 10/5/2013, I took her to the vet for an initial exam. The bill came to a little over $200.00. It is now Sunday and her eating hasn't improved. From past experience, not eating is ALWAYS a worrisome sign. She will be needing additional testing this week. I DO NOT want to just give up on her because I am financially broke. It isn't fair. She is MY dog and she deserves to have the medical treatment she needs to have a fighting chance.
Tater is currently seeing Dr. Payne at Full Circle Animal Hospital in Callahan, FL (904) 879-1025. PLEASE HELP ME HELP TATER!! She may need to see North Florida Veternary Specialist for additional testing. I DO NOT want to be forced to sacrifice my dog because of having helped so many foster dogs and cats.
If you can help with even a few dollars, it would be greatly appreciated. I have a paypal account. My email address is scapasso00@yahoo.com.
