Sailing across the open ocean has always been my greatest dream. The endless horizon of the Atlantic, the sound of wind in the sails, and the feeling of total freedom—this gives me strength to keep going and helps me leave everyday worries behind.
But life has thrown me a curveball: I lost my job, and I’m also battling diabetic retinopathy, a serious eye disease. Despite these challenges, I don’t want to give up on my dreams. So I’m turning to you with a heartfelt request—I need your support to take part in a transatlantic sailing expedition, something that would be more than just a trip for me—it would be the fulfillment of a lifelong dream.
🧭 My Situation
These past few months have been extremely tough. I lost my primary source of income, and at the same time, I was diagnosed with diabetic retinopathy, a progressive condition that damages the retina and puts my vision at serious risk. Treatment is expensive—specialist visits, eye injections, and medications eat up a large portion of my limited funds. Without treatment, I could go blind.
Even in these difficult circumstances, I want to hold on to my passion—sailing. Now I have a real opportunity to join a crew crossing the Atlantic this winter, around December–January. I’ve managed to raise part of the funds needed, but I’m still short €2,500–3,000 to make this dream possible. That’s why I’m asking for your help—even a small contribution brings me one step closer to the journey of a lifetime.
⛵ Sailing – My Passion and My Escape
For years, sailing has been my greatest passion and my refuge from the stress of daily life. When I step aboard a boat, I leave behind anxiety, worry, and illness. The sea gives me peace, hope, and a sense of freedom. Now, more than ever, I need that escape—a chance to recharge, reflect, and find new energy.
Crossing the Atlantic is something I’ve dreamed about for years. It’s a challenge, an adventure, and a deeply personal goal—to be part of a crew, to navigate an ocean, and to overcome not only the elements but also myself. I don’t want illness or lack of money to take this chance away from me.
🌍 The Voyage
The expedition is planned for late December into January—the best weather window for sailing westward across the Atlantic. I will join the crew of an ocean-going yacht, under the leadership of an experienced skipper. We’ll likely depart from Europe (most likely the Canary Islands) and arrive in the Caribbean.
The crossing will take about 3–4 weeks of non-stop ocean sailing. It’s not just a dream—it’s a serious physical and logistical challenge that I’m preparing for, both mentally and practically.
💸 What Will the Funds Be Used For?
While this kind of voyage is never cheap—dreams of crossing the Atlantic come with a price—I’ve already managed to save part of what I need. Unfortunately, due to my current medical expenses and lack of income, I can’t afford the remaining costs on my own.
That’s why I’m asking for support to raise the remaining €2,500–3,000, which will allow me to:
