Tracey Beadle hasn't added a story.
In October 2018 Carrie and Tracey saw an advert on facebook by ManHealth. They were looking for people to do a 26 mile walk along Hadrian's wall. Being from Wallsend Carrie has always wanted to walk all or part of Hadrian's Wall.
Carrie's brother Steven sadly died in November 2013, Steven fought a long battle with his own mental health so it was a cause close to all of our hearts.
Manhealth are building a network of male peer support groups across the United Kingdom, helping men to manage and prevent Depression or other mental health conditions, through a range of methods including training and peer support. We support men experiencing mental health issues through our peer support groups which are all ran by male facilitators who have a lived experience.
With all of this in mind (and a few gin's as dutch courage) Carrie and Tracey signed up to "Walk The Wall" Then we decided we would need someone to carry all of our gin and cake that we would need to keep us going so Dave was roped in.
On Sunday 9th December 2018, our world's came crashing down around us, Tracey and Dave's beautiful 17 year old daughter decided that life was just too hard for her. She walked to the end of their street and hanged herself from a little tree, a tree that doesn't look strong enough to have held her.
We were all heartbroken, Carrie came up from Sheffield to support us, within a few hours of the three of us being together we had started to talk about doing something to help others like Quinn, and other broken families like ours.
Quinn was so special and that's why her story can’t end with her death, we have to tell her story and keep talking about her. The charity that we have started is called Quinn's retreat.
We will provide short breaks to families who have lost a loved one to suicide and also to people and their families who are feeling low, suffering from depression and other mental health conditions. Just a break away from the trials of everyday life, the chance to breathe again....This will be Quinn's story.
Please visit the ManHealth website for more info https://www.manhealth.org.uk/
Please visit Quinn's Retreat FaceBook page https://www.facebook.com/Quinnsretreat (our website is still under construction)
Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story and (hopefully) for sponsoring us
