Jeremy Kettler hasn't added a story.
We're raising money for Jeremy Kettler and his family in support of their legal battle against the federal government, provide some relief of the current financial burden and assist moving forward.
Jeremy has become a scapegoat in a fight between federal and state governments. After learning about SB 102 from a local business owner (Shane Cox) Jeremy tried one of his suppressors and made a review view video for the item that was clearly protected and legal in the state he lived in under SB 102. A short time later, the ATF raided Mr. Cox's business, seizing assets and business records. Jeremy's name was not on this list of customers. 13 other people were though. Seven were in possession of a suppressor at the time of the investigation. None of them were charged. Even the Neosho County Sheriffs Lieutenant, the very man that should have protected Mr. Cox from the illegal search and seizure, was in possession of a suppressor at the time of the raid. The prosecution testified during trial that the law enforcement officer threw his suppressor into the river in an attempt to deceive federal investigators and avoid prosecution. He wasn't charged either.
Jeremy contacted ATF agents immediately and told them that he was no longer in possession of the suppressor, informed them where he got it, why it was legal, and that, according to the law, and that the agents in question were commiting a felony by attempting to enforce federal firearms regulations in Kansas. The ATF didn't like that, and slapped him with a conspiracy charge and making false statements charge. Right before the trial was scheduled to begin, the federal government added a felony possession of an illegal firearm charge. The federal judge quickly threw out the first two initial charges against Jeremy, on the basis of lack of sufficient evidence presented by the prosecution.
After being served with indictment papers, Jeremy reached out to numerous Kansas legislators and Governor Sam Brownback and Attorney General Derek Schmidt, and was met with silence.
Both defendants plan to file appeals and fight this battle all the way to the Supreme Court.
