My name is Chelsea Widdup, as stated earlier, and I am 18 years old! (Also stated earlier) I'm born and raised in Ontario, Canada!
I have recently graduated highschool, however, I am going back for another semester - semester 2 - so in the meantime I'm working full-time at a coffee shop, names Tim Hortons (a Canadian chain)
I plan to go to college/university to get my BScN (Batchelor of science in Nursing).
I have always wanted to go on a mission trip to anywhere! I love being able to help people in any way possible, and if I could change 1 persons life during this trip, it would be all worth it!
(I'd also like to add thatbI sponsor a child in Africa, so I'm very passionate about helping out!)
A lot of people ask my why I want to go on a trip to a third-world country and be in not so amazing conditions rather than going to a 5-star resort and eating all the food my stomach can handle (which by the way is cheaper than the mission trip) - and this is what I tell them;
I find that we have so much, yet are poor in happiness. People in these developing countries are poor in material things, but rich in happiness. They are happy. They're happy with what little they actually do have, despite all the hardships that occur. But when people come into their lives and give them a little more, out of pure love -it not only changes them and brings more happiness into their life (knowing that there are people out there who care enough to come to provide help to them) but it changes the person who is helping them. These trips change lives. However, trips to fancy resorts, while pleasent for the moment, do not offer this. Resorts in these countries are basically fake. Real in existence but fake in portraying the legitimate culture and the actual being of the country. They are walls that are put up to hide and mask the reality of the country's actually state. And this makes me upset.
Knowing that I can go on this trip to help in any small way is an amazing feeling.
So, here is where I ask for your donations. And I really hate asking for money from anybody, but this money I am asking for is not going to me. It is going towards the country of Haiti and it's people. It's going towards a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Every single dollar counts, and I'm legitimately ever so grateful for every donation! I cannot express how much I appreciate it!
