On December 29th, 2014, Ahaspora will continue our year-long mentorship of 100 secondary school (high school) students, inaugurated a year ago. The program will beginwith an all-day mentoring event in Accra themed "Changing Mindsets, Channeling our Future". Students will participate in hands-on exercises, panel discussions on leadership, entrepreneurship, and civic engagement, and interact with human resources and career development professionals. Mentors will continue to engage students throughout the year, meeting in-person, to provide guidance and engage them in various opportunities.
Ahaspora is comprised of a group of young professionals who have either lived or schooled abroad and have returned to Ghana to use our knowledge, skills and resources to make Ghana a better place to live, and one way we aim to give back is through youth mentorship. Though we are at times frustrated with the slow rate of progress in Ghana, one thing we can all agree on is that there is hope in the youth. In order to succeed, they need our guidance and support and that is the idea behind the Ahaspora Mentoring Program.
We are raising funds to cover expenses including location, food,
beverage, t-shirts, activity materials, handouts, prizes and
administrative costs in order to keep this event free to all
participants. Funding will also be used for ongoing mentoring
activities throughout the year and to establish scholarships for students.
