The night raised over 1700 in total and donations are still coming in......
The night was an amazing success - below are some pictures. 
On 11th of June 2014 at Canterbury Christ Church University Stodmarsh football pitches the staff footballers will be holding a charity football night. 4 teams playing a mini tournament and donating all proceeds and pitch fees to Green Banks in Margate.
This whole thing only started as an idea to have one football match and just donate the usual pitch fee all the players pay to play to Green Banks in order to help them fund their sensory garden.
The support was overwhelming and within just over 24 hours 50 players had signed up and interest was clearly there to support such a great cause.
Players have pledged up to £50 to take part in this game.
Since the original idea many people have come forawrd and donated prizes for a Raffle too and many have pledged money even though they cannot attend on the night.

Below is the email that kicked this all off and some of my back story and why I wanted to do this.

Hi All,
Some of you may or may not know that my Baby daughter has been having health issues for the last year, since 5 weeks old she has been in and out of hospital, she is now 14 months old and still having tests to try and find the cause, she has seizures (now controlled by drugs) and is suffers from Global development delay and is still at the level of about a two month old, we have been told she will live her life with physical issues, we have been under the care of “Green banks” in Margate for physio, OT and Sensory development and they rely heavily on donation for things like a “Sensory Garden” that really help Babies and Children like Ellie.
I have felt rather helpless the last year and would really like to do something to give back to those that have helped Ellie and also help others in a similar situation. CCCU have kindly agreed to let me use the pitches at stodmarsh for free on the evening of Wednesday the 11th of June. I thought instead of paying UKC a fiver we could all donate our match fee (or more) to Greenbanks and help them get this Sensory Garden, Not sure what interest will be like but I have secured 2 pitches and thought we could try and do 4 teams and two games but do a First game of 45 mins and winners of first two games then play each other and a third place playoff off. Obviously that is only if we get enough players. I have no idea what interest will be but more the merrier and donations and spectators welcome. I will see what numbers we have before finalising format and any other events on the night. If you are interested in a evening of football that also helps others please stick your name below (if numbers are full add extra to bottom – more the merrier) Feel free to ask others too, I may have missed people off as I have tried to merge the summer football list, Friday football and 6 a side football lists! Some of you I have never met (only a couple from the friday list). From 6-8pm. Coloured shirt to follow!
