Seeking a Fresh Start
Hello, my name is Jerame, and I am reaching out to share my story in hopes of finding support as I try to rebuild my life from the ground up. To begin, I truly mean it when I say I have lost everything. Just a few days ago, while I was away on a work trip, my soon-to-be ex-wife of 13 years decided to take everything from our home and move out. This unfortunate situation stems from two months ago when I discovered she was cheating. Though I was initially devastated, I chose to forgive her for the sake of our two beautiful children. However, in her haste to depart, not only did she empty our house, but she also drained our bank account. It's important to note that I was the only one working to support our family.
Since the home we rented belonged to a friend of hers, I was informed that I had to vacate, which is legally questionable. Despite this, given the turmoil I have experienced, I reluctantly packed what little clothing and footwear she left me and moved into my mother’s one-bedroom apartment. Now my new living situation adds an hour to my commute, which complicates matters as we only had one car, co-owned jointly. With my ex-wife holding the car—and my children—I find myself without reliable transportation.
I do not wish to ask for a fortune; I simply need $1,000 to purchase a car my mother’s acquaintance is selling. My bank account has been completely emptied, and even though she has $23,000 of our money , she refuses to give me any amount to help. In addition, I am aware that I will need legal assistance and another place to live; however, my immediate priority is find a way to reliably commute to work, especially since I will have to return come Monday.
Securing a car this weekend would mean the world to me. Once I have a means to get to work again, I can begin searching for an apartment for myself and my children. The process of starting over entails investing in new furniture, clothing, and shoes for the kids—essentially starting from scratch, as she took everything. It breaks my heart to see my children go through this when I was doing all I could as a devoted father. It feels unjust, especially as my ex has chosen to pursue a relationship with her former partner, a man with a troubled past.
Right now, I feel lost and hurt, utterly uncertain as to how to proceed. All I know is that to rebuild my life and keep fighting for my kids in court, I need reliable transportation. I haven’t been able to see or communicate with them; I'm portrayed as the wrongdoer in this situation, which is heartbreaking. Any help you can offer—even just support in purchasing that car for $1,000—will empower me with a foothold to resume life and to keep advocating for my kids' well-being.
