Urgent: Help Benji Get His Airway Surgery

I never thought I would be in a position where I had to ask for help like this, but here we are.

Benji has always been a loud breather. The snoring, the snorting, the heavy breathing when he gets excited, I genuinely thought it was normal for a French Bulldog. Everyone says that’s just how they are.

A few weeks ago, after a short walk, he seemed more out of breath than usual. He wasn’t running or playing hard. He just stood there, breathing heavily, and something didn’t sit right with me. I booked a vet appointment just to be safe.

I’m really glad I did.

The vet explained that his airways are significantly restricted and that he’s been compensating for a long time. What sounds “cute” or funny is actually him working harder than he should just to get enough air. Hearing that made my stomach drop. I realized he’s probably been struggling more than I understood.

He needs corrective airway surgery. Without it, his breathing can worsen over time, and normal things like heat, stress, or excitement could become risky for him. With surgery, he has a strong chance at living comfortably and breathing the way he should.

The estimated cost for surgery, bloodwork, anesthesia, hospital monitoring, and aftercare is around €4,000. I’ve already covered the consultation and initial tests, but I can’t manage the full amount on my own.

Benji doesn’t know any of this. He still follows me around the house, still gets excited over the smallest things, and still looks at me with complete trust. That trust is the hardest part. I don’t want to wait until this becomes an emergency. I want to give him the chance to breathe normally while we still can.
