A Family Dream in Danger

We are a six-member family who built a small, welcoming guesthouse in Grindavík, Iceland—a town known for its breathtaking volcanic landscapes and natural beauty. For two years, we dedicated our hearts, time, and energy to creating a home-away-from-home for travelers seeking an authentic Icelandic experience.

But everything changed in November 2023 when a series of volcanic eruptions threw our lives and our business into uncertainty.

A Business Caught in Uncertainty

Despite being allowed to operate, reality has been far more challenging. We’ve reopened between eruptions, only to be forced to close again when new warnings arise. How can we invite guests when we don’t know if we’ll have to evacuate in hours or days?

Our income has stopped, but our expenses continue to pile up—bills, maintenance, and operational costs that won’t go away.

We have done everything we can to hold on, but without support, we are at risk of losing everything we worked for.
