Hello you guys!
We are reaching out today hoping to find some relief from the
situation we are currently in. As most people know hurricane Helene
has ripped through the South East.
My husband, my two kids (8) and (5) and I live in South Carolina and
have experienced the fall out ourselves. Being this far inland we
never would have anticipated this much damage. So far we have been
without electricity for 4 days and counting. We aLeo run off of well
water so with no electricity we have no water. We are using buckets of
cold water from our neighbors down the road to bathe, flush toilets,
wash dishes and as of today wash clothing. Even with power companies
working around the clock our home isn’t expected to see power for 1-3
weeks due to damage to the grid. We’ve had to toss out all of our
food, our roof is now leaking in multiple places and we are spending
money we don’t have just to survive. Even before this event we were
just barely getting by. Now even while we go to sleep I’m worried that
due to circumstances we will lose our car, not be able to pay our
upcoming bills and be in a hole we can no longer climb out of.
On top of supplies to keep our family and pets fed, we are going through lots of fuel to keep our phones charged and our kids cooled off through the day. we need to find a way to tarp our roof. At the moment FEMA is approved for all of the counties around us but not our county
right now just in necessities we are having to spend money on
charcoal
batteries
candles
battery powered fans
nonperishables
fuel
Water. .
literally anything can help. I’ve never been so stressed in my life.
