Hello everyone!
This is Filan Naje Bad-ay, he is 7 months-old and he's been diagnosed with Ventricular Septal Defect in Congestive Heart Failure . Young as he is, he's been bravely fighting to survive amid this pandemic. His family is knocking on your generous hearts to help this little one get a chance at life.

Let's read his story below.

Filan Naje, born on March 1st of this year, is a ray of sunshine to his family despite this trying time. At three months, he had a cough that keeps coming back, he also has poor weight gain, frequently irritable thus always crying and eventually had difficulty breathing. These prompted his parents to take him to the doctor.

That simple cough has progressed to pneumonia (PCAP-C). Filan Naje was immediately admitted to the hospital to get proper treatment, as his oxygen level is low as well and phlegm has accumulated in his respiratory tract. Upon further examination, Naje's pediatrician noticed heart murmurs, he was then referred to a cardiologist for further examination. He was subjected to a 2D Echocardiogram Test (2D echo), it was concluded that a “hole” in the septum which separates the left and right ventricle of the heart is present (6.3 mm).

Filan Naje is diagnosed with Congenital Heart Disease, Ventricular Septal Defect in Congestive Heart Failure. People with VSD are prone to having infections such as pneumonia, find difficulty in gaining weight, faster breathing and are easily exhausted even with simple activities.

The family fervently hoped and prayed that his condition will be better and that the hole will close on its own. After weeks of treatment from the hospital, Naje was finally sent home. He is to consistently take medication to control his blood pressure while waiting for the hole to close by itself. He also needs to be checked regularly by his doctors to monitor his condition.

Two months had passed but Filan Naje didn't show much improvement. He started coughing so he was rushed to the hospital, sadly he acquired pneumonia again. He was again subjected to a 2D Echo to check on his heart, the test showed that the hole increased in diameter (now 8 mm), natural healing is deemed not possible and he is a candidate for cardiac surgery (heart surgery) to close the hole as soon as possible. He was scheduled for surgery in December.

In the hope to provide a normal life for Filan Naje, his family opted to go for the operation. However, as much as the family wants the procedure to be done the soonest, the estimated cost for his surgery is beyond their capability. Bills and debts have piled up from the previous hospitalizations and medication.

Filan Naje is knocking on your generous hearts and soliciting for your prayers.
The family has undertaken several means to reach the estimated cost to cover the medical procedure but it is difficult to accumulate 1.2 million pesos (PHP 1,200,00 or approximately 23,650 USD) in a short period of time.
