Ciao! Sono Flavio, studente di Scienze Naturali e abito a Manera, un piccolo paese in provincia di Como.
Ho deciso, utilizzando un campo ereditato dalla mia famiglia, di creare una piccola oasi naturale. Questa idea è nata per cercare di riportare biodiversità in un ambiente estremamente antropizzato, dove specie vegetali e animali autoctoni non trovano spazio per sopravvivere, soffocati tra il cemento che avanza e la competizione con specie aliene importate dall’uomo.
Per realizzare il progetto ho discusso con vari esperti tra cui naturalisti e botanici, in maniera da creare un ambiente adatto al maggior numero di specie e con un occhio di riguardo per la scelta di piante tipiche del luogo.
L’area sarà essenzialmente suddivisa in tre zone principali: una zona di arbusteto, uno stagno (attualmente già in costruzione) ed un prato; è importante creare ambienti variegati per venire incontro alle esigenze di vari animali: dalle cavallette che abitano il prato, ai rospi che si riproducono nello stagno agli uccelli che si rifocillano di bacche tra gli arbusti.
Le piante verranno acquistate presso un vivaio forestale e saranno tutte autoctone con un costo complessivo di 150€, il prato avrà un costo di circa 200€ dovuto all’acquisto di sementi e per la preparazione del terreno alla semina; per la manutenzione sarà necessario un decespugliatore dal costo di circa 300€: è infatti necessario, per i primi anni, tagliare il prato periodicamente per evitare che specie invasive soffochino quelle da noi piantate in precedenza.
L’obbiettivo minimo di questa raccolta fondi è quello di arrivare a 500€ ma, in caso si superasse questa cifra, a seconda della somma raggiunta, sarà possibile arricchire ulteriormente l’oasi investendo nella creazione di un muretto a secco per dare ai rettili uno spazio per la termoregolazone, oppure procurando tronchi che fanno da dimora a un’innumerovole quantità di invertebrati, altrimenti comprando fototrappole per avere importanti dati sui mammiferi che beneficiano dell’oasi

Hello! I am Flavio, student of Natural Sciences living in Manera, a village in the province of Como (Italy).
I’ve decided, using a field inherited from my family, to create a small wildlife refuge. This idea was born to try to restore biodiversity in an extremely anthropized environment, where native plant species and animals struggle to survive, suffocated between urban growth and competition with alien species introduced by humans.
To draw the project I’ve discussed with various experts including naturalists and botanists, in order to create an environment suitable for the greatest number of species and with a particular attention for the choice of typical plants of this place. The field will be divided into three main areas: a shrub area, a pond (already under construction) and a meadow; it is crucial to create varied environments to meet the needs of different animals: from grasshoppers that inhabit the meadow, to toads that breed in the pond to birds that refuel with shrub’s berries.
The plants will be purchased at a forest nursery and will all be autochtonous with a total cost of 150€, the meadow will cost about 200€ due to the purchase of seeds and for the tillage; for maintenance it will be necessary a grass trimmer costing about 300€, it is important in the early years, to cut the grass periodically to prevent invasive species from suffocating the plants planted by us previously.
The minimum goal of this fundraiser is to reach 500€ but, in case we will exceed this figure, depending on the amount reached, it will be possible to further enrich the wildlife refuge by investing in the creation of a dry stone wall to give reptiles a space for thermoregulation, or by procuring trunks that house a countless amount of invertebrates, otherwise buying phototraps to have important data on mammals benefiting from the natural reserve
