Why are you cycling 400 km in 4 days?

During summer vacation in the French Alps, Edouard Nelson (pastor of Eglise des Ternes) tragically fell 50 feet while rock climbing with one of his sons. He sustained an inoperable head injury and died in the hospital shortly thereafter.
Edouard's death is a huge loss for us in Paris and for the French Evangelical world in general. In addition to hosting the church we've planted (EIC Ternes), Edouard has had a hand in the launching of more than a dozen initiatives for new French-language churches. "Over the last sixteen years," his wife Laura said, "he has mentored and encouraged over 100 people to be trained for ministry in some capacity." It is not an overstatement to say that our church plant would not exist (and our family would not be in Paris now) were it not for this man and his vision for church planting.
We owe a debt to Edouard and would like to enlist your help. K.J. is cycling from Orléans to the Atlantic Ocean (roughly 400 km / 250 miles) in order to raise money for the needs of Edouard's family and for a fund established in Edouard's name. After ensuring that the Nelson family can meet their immediate needs, all donations will go to furthering Edouard's legacy of training French pastors and church planters through the newly established "2 Timothée 2:2" fund created in Edouard's honor.
This is the biggest cycling fundraiser that K.J. has ever attempted, and we hope that you will have big and generous hearts in helping Edouard's family and Edouard's fund for training the next wave of pastors and church planters for France.
