September's good news:  old GSD Zorana left for a specialist GSD rescue and was homed with a lovely lady who has just lost her beloved shepherd; Penny, one of our very scared long-stayers is settling into UK rescue right now; sweet little low-rider Lofty hardly touched UK soil before he was adopted into a lovely home; and Blondie is also adopted in the UK.  Sponsors have been so generous to the dogs looking for a ticket on the Happy Bus, and we are hoping another group will have left by the end of the month.   Thankfully, relief helpers who regularly visit to feed and clean the dogs in Praca every Sunday have now negotiated access again. Some of the dogs, usually so timid, were jumping up and down with excitement - so happy to welcome Caki and his colleagues back!

Many of you will have fallen in love with the 6 new babies: Sasha at 6 weeks found under a wrecked car and the “Fab 5” Fudge, Liquorice, Lola, Kess and Marta, who had been dumped at a busy intersection where the dog-catchers would be sure to find them.  Sadly all except Sasha and Liquorice have been ill with distemper but, thanks to our routine protocol of giving canglob to all new puppies, they seem to be responding well to treatment.  Finally sweet little Teejay was saved from a dangerous roadside location where she had been dumped the night before - she's only a baby herself but shows signs that she has recently had a litter.  A super new life awaits all these babies as soon as we can find them homes. These happy endings are only possible with your generous and continued support. Thank you all!

On a sadder note, Caki was alerted to a beautiful boy who had been left to die with horrific wounds, probably from a dog fight. So many hearts went out to William as the vet team struggled to save his life. The decision was made to amputate his leg as he was succumbing to sepsis: it was his only chance, but sadly William never woke from the anaesthetic. The team is so grateful for your financial help which is enabling Caki to fund the vet bills.

Caki was delighted to welcome visitors Diane and Ariane from Belgium - long time supporters who re-home so many of the dogs, and who brought with them a lot of much appreciated aid.  Later in the month, wonderful Austrian supporters provided van loads of food, etc., to help the dogs survive another harsh Bosnian winter.

FUNDRAZR FEES:  It seems that if you are using PayPal then Fundrazr will only work properly with a minimum €5 donation PLUS a minimum €1 "donation" or "tip" to Fundrazr.  Smaller donations, and or donations with the Fundrazr "tip" set to zero, are automatically refunded via PayPal.

TAX:  The Bosnian authorities have retrospectively imposed a 10% tax on all PayPal and other electronic payments to private individuals received from overseas.  As a result we have to add a further 10% to cover this cost.  Caki is working with professional advisers to find how best to minimise this extra cost, and the potentially crippling retrospective liability: PLEASE MARK YOUR DONATIONS as "GIFT".
