Marilyn Faye Castleman hasn't added a story.
Hello. My name is Marilyn Castleman and I run a small resuce, called ALL PITTER PATTERS MATTER.
I am a NON-PROF CORP.; not A 501 and I am not elgible for grants. Some companies have grants for corps vs incorps (tax-exempt), and I have looked at two different ones, but they do not cover general vetting, at all, which is odd, because that is exactly what nonprof 501s qualify for, first and foremost.....I dunno.....
I have recently taken in two very sickly stray kittens, still being bottle/syringe-fed, and need more ear mite medication and anti-diarrhea medication on hand (for my triage kit) and 3 kittens struggling with FeLV, ringworms and diarrhea......
Thankfully, I do keep a triage kit, and though I am short a couple of things, some kids are being treated with Terramycin, .25 mg Cehpalexin, Nutra VIt, KMR and TAO, for one has a rip on his behind, up into his hipbone, as if he escaped from a predator.....Obviously, the wound reeked of infection, so I cleaned it once with peroxide and TAO now, twice a day...., just so seriously sad.....and when I caught the stray kids, of course, they were INFESTED with fleas, just FYI, you DO NOT bathe a kitten UNLESS infested with fleas or a toxic chemical; otherwise, just let them have food and residual medication in their little whiskers and hair, maybe trying to remove such locally with a cotton ball, but dry immediately, for their body tempature will drop significantly if not bathed properly.....These kids I bathed in Dawn and it did the trick, immediately dried them, checked their temp, along with temp of the water and now, while a little filthy, they are much healhier and I am not bathing them until they are at least 1.5 lbs....They were so sick, they could not run.....Eyes matted so badly, they looked as if they were literally going to bulge permanently out of their sockets.....
I will try to be concise, for most of my fundraisers are beyond verbose, but I also want to comprehensive....., and try to account for every red cent needed, but, currently, I am still trying to take in a few more of these sick and stray kittens; how many exactly, I do not know, but, probably, I can handle four more and they are all over this town and, sadly, no one is doing anything.
The mindset here is not that these kids should be altered and people would rather spend money on hunting gear, cigarettes, beer and lottery tickets, than to have their furry companion fixed; therefore, there is a plethora of sick kittens and cats all over this town. I am doing my best to help as many as I can. Hopefully, in a month or so, a nearby Humane Society is going to offer services to people whom I know desperately need to have their kids vetted, for if I go to each house, unequivocally, I will be tending to at least 30+ kids, most sick, and I feel guilty that I cannot do this, so I grab them, as I see them, and, again, though at capacity, am going to try and take in a few more.
The following estimate will cover 7 kids.....(only 2 more than I have recently taken in)
If you any questions. regarding the above/need clarity, do not hesitate to ask/inquire.....I have many references and feel more than free to contact them, via Facebook, or even my vet, Dr. Michael Neal, in Paris, TN. 1.731.642.2263.
For my rescues with FeLV, the total costs, thus far, is $515.09; I will do a quick, but clear, breakdown.....
Peace, Love and Harmony is what I have named them.........They are having it tough, for they have been diagnosed with FeLV, ringworm, which is helaing, but, nonetheless, requires medication and extreme caution, for it is highly-contagious and chronic diahrrea....
Each kid will have the same vetting, for they are all males and the alter charge will be the same.....
1. Male alteration $30 x 3 kittens ($90)
2. Rabies Taken care of by rescue, who asked me to take them....THANK YOU!!!
3. FV-RCP $17 x 3 kittens x 2 more inoculations (they must have this until they are 17 weeks of age, and they have had 1 and need 2 more inoculations) ($102)
4. They have been dewormed, twice, already.
5. WILL RE-SNAP TEST for FIV/FeLV, since so young, and, HOPEFULLY, these are the antibodies of the mother.....It does happen....$35 3 kittens x $35 ($105)
6. Chronic diahrrea medication, which is usually directly related to a virus attempting to pass, and they do not have any *non-worm parasitic viruses*, for they have been treated for such, also they do not have intestinal worms, for they have been treated for such, and, sadly, it is probably related to the FeLV not being a false positive, and also the cause of ringworms....Their tiny immune systems cannot fight off certain illness on their own; hence, needing medication. They, however, are NOT lethargic, dehyrated, have a great appeitite, so, thankfully, the many side effects of diarrhea, they are not displaying, nonetheless, ALL kids are having some diarrhea and I have run out of such, in my triage kit.....$11.51
7. Ear mite medication, for numerous kids.....Many from the streets do have ear mites, for I determined with my otoscope, which is a parasite; therefore, by nature, a virus. This medication attacks viruses, fungus and will also help to treat any secondary bacterial infections, if such occurs.....$16.58.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/272735224412
8. Paws crossed they are FALSE POSITIVES, and, if so, they will be Fel-O-Vaxed $20 3 kittens x $20 ($60)
9. Ringworms: In the end stages, but still being treated with an antifungal....
Total vetting ($357) Medication ($28.09) TOTAL ($385.09)
If approved to head to a sanctuary up north, they will need traveling certs. I beg they are false positives, but with the illnesses they are already showing, sadly, it is unlikely, but I am still hoping.....
Travel Cert. $10 x 3 $30
THUS FAR, TOTAL ($415.09)
I am treating them all, as of now. In a couple of months, they will need the mandatory/basic vetting, which will be performed by Neal. The medication for eat mites and diahrrea, I try to keep in my triage kit and that money will not need to be called into Neal's and can be donated to this very fundraiser or directly to my non-profit corp. PayPal email....ALLPITTERPATTERSMATTER@YAHOO.COM, where zero fees will apply, IF you choose *friends and family* versus *goods and servies....*
Each time a donation is made, here, to my PP and/or to Neal's, such will be subtracted and *the goal* will be updated....
I am also asking for $100, for food (canned and dried), litter, and supplies....Each kid will be with me at least 3 months and 5 months, for this is when they can be vetted and at 5 months, retested for FeLV....This is appoximately $2.50 a month, for each kid.....Believe me, any, any, any help for supplies, helps, helps and helps.....
Total, thus far ($515.09)
Sadly, this town is not very concerned about the health and well-being of our nonhuman friends, even when they are supposedly their pet parent and the town is swamped with uncared for kittens, cat and dogs, all because the *parents* are simply NOT altering their fur kids.... and, of course, as expected, many are strays; the offspring of said unaltered kids....We all know it is a devastating cycle, which can be fixed, with literally that; one *fix/alteraion*.
I have been able to catch two, but so many more are out there and I am over capacity, but I am hoping to be able to help AT LEAST 3/4 more....Making a total of 5/6....The asked-for-donations I am requesting will only cover 4 kittens, because I know I am surely asking for a lot, already....If funds are raised, I will be able to bring in two more kittens, for the full detailed report represents bringing in exactly two more cats or kittens.....Just to be clear.....Thank you so much!
Vettting required:
1. Male alteration $30 Female alteration $45
2. Rabies $8.50
3. FV-RCP $17.00 x 3 x 1 kitten ($51)
4. Dewormer....Taken care of.....
5. SNAP test for FIV/FeLV $35
6. If negative SNAP, Fel-O-Vax $20
7. They are improving, THANKFULLY, but MIGHT still require an office visit
8.. The medication listed above will also go to treat these kiddos....
On average, depending if the kid is male or female is ($174.50-$189.50) x 4 kittens
TOTAL ($698.00-$758) Yes. I know it is a lot, but their supplies are also going to be quite expensive for 3-5 months, so any money left over, if any, will go directly to their supplies.
I have THANKFULLY raised $477.00
FINAL TOTAL........$1,213.09-$1,273.09-$477=$736.09/$796.09
If you have any questions, for I tried to make it as thorough as possible, please, do NOT hesitate to ask....
