My name is Jennifer McConnell and I am 34 years old. With a lot of work- blood, sweat and tears, and some set-backs along the way, I have qualified for the Canadian National Championships in powerlifting (which consists of three lifts- squat, bench and deadlift) again this year. The event will be held in Saguenay, Quebec on March 12th-18th. I would be both honoured and proud to have the opportunity to compete among the best in Canada again.

With the support of family and friends, in addition to my funds, I travelled to Regina, Saskatchewan for the Championships in 2016. I finished with Gold in the bench press, and ranked 10th over-all in the Country for the 3-lift competition, in the 57kg weight-class. With my current best lifts (squat- 275lbs, bench- 176lbs, deadlift- 308lbs), I am hoping to increase my overall ranking and hit the podium this year.

My financial situation has changed this year, as I decided to return to school. I am currently finishing my last semester of the Strength and Sports Conditioning program at Canadore College. With the additional costs of tuition, while raising my two beautiful children with my husband, I am struggling to secure the funds to attend Canadian Championships this year.
