Rumor Mill News is one of the oldest independent news websites. It was started in 1996 as a monthly news magazine. It was started by Gunther and Rayelan Russbacher. Gunther and his team supplied the information, Rayelan published it as a print magazine.

Gunther Russbacher was the most famous political prisoner of the George Herbert Walker Bush presidency. In 1998 Rumor Mill News (RMN) went up on the web. RMN is not like the Main Stream Media or government funded sites. RMNews is totally independent. We rely mainly on donations from our readers.

• RMNews is not like PBS or the BBC. We are NOT a propaganda arm of any government.
• RMN doesn't take kickbacks from the corporations that fund most of the mainstream media and therefore the major media has to march to their drum beats.

All of the information that our reporters discover and/or research is posted in the RMN Reading Room for all to read... 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. RMN has always been free for all to read and no donations were requested. 

Up until 2005, Rayelan paid most of the costs for RMN out of her own pocket.

In the last few years the RMN readership has grown and this requires a larger bandwidth which means more money. RMN is not like your child's free webpages. RMN is a professional news site with a daily readership between 38,000 and 47,000 each DAY and a monthly hit rate between 41 million and 59 million.

Paying more for bandwidth is just one of the reasons RMN needs your help. The Publisher of RMNews lost $4500.00 every month when her husband died in 2005. Three months later her mother had a heart attack and required 24 hour a day care. Rayelan quit teaching and lost the last income she had to pay the $3,000 mortgage and to pay the bills for RMN. She put the house on the market for what it was appraised, $400,000. The housing market crashed and she was stuck with a $300,000 mortgage on a house worth less than  $200,000.

In 2007 her mother died and Rayelan started looking for a cheaper place to live even if it meant destroying the last vestiges of her credit rating by stopping paying the mortgage, walking away from the house and allowing it to be sold in a short sale. Bankruptcy followed a few years later.
