Bonnie Sandy hasn't added a story.
Cody's story: It all started the thursday after the last tournament. Cody was slow getting up and I thought he was just sore from the tournament. Then by the weekend, he was walking sideways and was very dizzy. We took him to our local vet. He had lost 4 pounds in a month so she did a wellness panel and a tick test. When the results came back from the wellness panel, she didnt like some of the levels and told us she wanted us to take Cody to Blue Peral in Tampa and see Dr Kimura who is their Neurologist. Dr Kimura did an evaluation on him and said that he thought there was something going on in his brian. He did an ultra sound on his belly and chest and found that he had a mass on his spleen and his liver looked mottled which means the contrast wasn't normal. They did a biopsy of his liver and spleen to see what was wrong. Cody was not showing any improvement as we waited on those test results. In the mean time the first tick test came back and it showed he was exposed to 3 different tick diseases, Lyme's, Rocky Mt Fever and Ehrehrilichiosis. Dr Kimura wanted to do a more extensive tick panel, so he took more blood and sent it off to CA. While all this was going on Cody was getting worse. He was loosing his balance to the point he was falling down. He couldn't walk straight and he would lean to one side and make wide turns. He was so dizzy that he was walking into walls and couldn't sit without falling to one side. He got so bad that we were carrying him everywhere. It was really, really hard for me to watch him. He wasnt eating which worried me with all the weight he lost already. I really wish he could tell me what he was feeling. We felt so helpless. The 2nd tick panel came back and it was negative for any tick disease which made me wonder about the first test. So the next step was the MRI and Spinal tap. Waiting on those results was horrible, time drags when your waiting to hear if your dog is going to be ok. The results came back that Cody had a stroke which affected his balance and his limbs. Dr Kimura said that it would take a few weeks to a couple of months for him to get better (if he does). So after 2 months, Cody will be at whatever level of recovery he reaches, which means the dizziness and walking off balance might not go away. These last 2 weeks have been hell for Allen and me. Cody is my heart dog and I was very upset while all this was going on and we didnt know what was wrong with him. I cried and prayed and I cried again and again. I am thankful for all the prayers from my friends and the support from everyone.....Please keep him in your prayers, it's not over yet.
