I’m just an ordinary person; I could be a relative, the next door neighbor, the girl down the street, or a coworker. I worked hard to buy a little piece of the 'American Dream' and like a lot of other people all across the country I hit a few bumps along the way. I didn't expect things to turn out like this. Instead, here I am, in financial difficulty and struggling, not to make ends meet, but just to survive. I'm not afraid of ...working hard or fighting for what I want, but I also know that there are times when you need to ask for help. I can't single out any one thing that caused my difficulties; a lot of things combined created this situation. A big part of the problem was my unemployment and large reduction in my income level right after buying my condo. Within in five months of purchasing my condo I was laid off from the Company I had work for the last two years prior. When I lost my job, prices weren't quite so high and while I expected to have to cut back on things, I thought I'd be able to hang on until I found a job, not to mention I had the added income of having a roommate at the time. As the months went on and my self esteem was crushed under the weight of all the resumes I sent out, which generated little response, I was losing hope. I fell behind in my association dues as well as only paying the utilities if I received a shut off notice. I was able to finally find employment but at a much lower pay scale than what I was making when I purchased my condo. All these events led up to a roommate no longer being an option but a necessity. Unfortunately, my roommate at that time was also having a difficulty which eventually led to that roommate’s departure. Finding a replacement has been an utter disaster and has only cost me more money in the end. Without a steady roommate I have been hard pressed to recover from my initial down fall and unfortunately things have snow balled to disastrous levels in a very small amount of time. Yes I've made some mistakes with my life, who hasn't? I'd still like to try to save my condo, I didn't deserve to have this happen, nobody does. I will not go down with out a fight. Some of you may be wondering, why ask for donations? Why not just get a loan or refinance like other people? Unfortunately my credit score has tanked. A home equity loan is out of the question. I bought the condo without fully understanding the whole credit score process. All I knew was that three years ago I had a good credit score. Since then an old credit card I was paying off from college went into collections, my association dues and utilities all reported to the credit bureaus late payments. Without any current line of open revolving credit to balance this out my score is currently beyond my ability to repair in time needed to save my condo and get a bank loan. My deadline is Sept 16th. The condo has been sold by a Sheriff Sale back to the Condo Association in which I live. I’m trying to raise as much money as possible before then, my goal and worse case scenario is $10,000. However, I plan to take whatever I am able to beg, barrow or make to the board for consideration as I’m able to attain it. All I’m asking for is $10. I figure with as many people as I know around the world, if even half of them would be willing to spare me one 10 dollar bill, I would make it that much closer to my goal, but anything more or less (even a dollar) would be very much appreciated. If you are not able to spare any money I understand. I know I’m not in the worst place I could be and that there are people out there worse off than me. But if you can’t spare the money, would you at least be so kind as to spare your time in forwarding my message to those you may know? I’m swallowing a very large pride pill (the size house) and have managed to eat every pie in the humble bakery. I ask for your help in what ever way you can provide it. My home is really all I have. I very little family to help me. I have no safety net to catch me when I fall. If I lose my home, I lose everything and I fail to survive.
