Boli and I are a few weeks away from becoming unhoused, and before that risk becomes a reality, we are coming here to humbly ask for your help, as Employment Insurance will not be enough.

This is the total amount needed to get us debt-free, and any contribution toward helping us reach that goal would be greatly appreciated and would place us in a safer financial position.

We have already started receiving help from kind people at our church and are planning to begin leveraging food bank options, but that will not be enough. We still need to cover living expenses and debt.

What got us here?

I have been sick and bedridden for the past nine months and used all of my limited savings, eventually having to max out my credit cards. I tried taking on small jobs, but I was not healthy enough to continue.

I was laid off after speaking up about experiencing harassment and being underpaid, receiving the same pay even after a “promotion”, while being pushed to combine several roles into one. I left that situation physically and mentally unwell.

Why not ask my family?

All of my family is in Brazil and lives very humbly. The currency is highly devalued, and they are not in a financial position to help without compromising their own livelihoods. In fact, when I was in a better position, I was the one helping them.
