On March 6th, 2020 twins, Slater and Sloane, were born. That joy was quickly overshadowed by the fact that Suz had been sick for some time but was becoming even more sick.
On April 11th, 2020 she went to the Paris ER with severe stomach pain. They ran some tests and determined she needed to be transferred to a bigger hospital. They transferred her by ambulance to Jackson General. They ran bloodwork, did x-rays, CT's, ultrasounds.....they determined she had pancreatitis and gall stones. They did surgery to remove the gall stones and sent her home.
She was home a couple of days when she started to have chest pain and jaundice. She went back to the ER and after bloodwork, x-rays, ultrasound....they admitted her again. They determined she had fluid in her lungs so they inserted a chest tube to drain the fluid. The chest tube was in place for a few days and she developed an infection - brought in an infectious disease doctor and they determined she required a PICC line. The PICC line then developed blood clots so they had to treat her for that.
They sent her home again with home health care....but that was short lived. 2 days later she was back in the ER with severe stomach pain. More tests..... They found she had "pseudocysts" and pancreatitis. Several more days in the hospital....
Suz was discharged and spent 8 days at home - then the chest pain returned. She went back to the ER and of course...more tests. She spent a couple of days there and has now been transferred by ambulance to Centennial Hospital in Nashville, TN. She has two chest tubes in place but no official diagnosis.
The stress of being away from the twins and mounting medical bills is rough. They are 8 weeks old and she's spent half of their lives in the hospital now.
The first round of bills came in at $104,000 - and that's not even a quarter of it.
Even when Suz is discharged her road to recovery will be long. She's lost so much weight that it will take a while for her to become "healthy" again.
Your support right now is greatly needed and appreciated!
