My name is Brittney and I have been teaching for 3 years. I have a 3 year old son who will be 4 later this year. I love to teach and love being a mother; 2 of my biggest passions in life. I am also a single mother who has been primarily providing for my son independently. 

A few summers ago, I went through something I never thought I would. My car was damaged on multiple occasions out of the blue seemingly, with subtle clues left by my ex, who is the father of my son, along the way. My front windshield was cracked in multiple places, my back window was completely smashed, the side of my car was scratched, and I had 3 flat tires with nails in them all in the matter of less than 48 hours. This whole situation happened in the matter of a few weeks. I had to get a protection order from stalking placed against him and this was all after an initial break up that sparked these events. While dealing with the issue of the protection order, we were dealing with a custody battle as well.

Thankfully, I was able to hold the temporary protection order for a year and was granted residential custody of my son. Fast forward to now, his father left our son at his apartment alone early one morning while he was sleeping. Our son got out of his apartment and someone found him around 2am that morning wandering around outside on his own. I am very blessed and thankful that my son was not injured, taken, or anything much worse that night.

I am trying to relocate outside of my current state to give my son a better life educationally, mentally, physically, and just all of the above. Where we are located is not going to give him what he needs to reach his full potential and I want to make sure I am doing what I need to do as his mother to protect him in every way and give him what he needs to be successful in life.

The money I am asking for will go towards paying legal fees to my lawyer. The cost of the retainer is $7,500 and I would have to keep at least $2,500 in the trust. This is a lot of money that I just do not have at the moment. 

I am asking for help in paying these fees to make this process a little less stressful as I am trying to achieve the best for my child in life.
