Atoya Montague is employed by the national police force of Canada. Over the past several years she has been bullied and harassed by her supervisors. Atoya filed a lawsuit against the RCMP for failing to protect her and now needs financial support.

Who is Atoya Montague

Atoya is a 39 year old woman who has worked for the RCMP since 2002, as a sworn-in Civilian Member. Unlike a Regular Member who is a sworn-in peace officer, a civilian member is hired for his/her specialized scientific, technical or analytical skills. To learn more about Atoya please scroll down to the bottom of this page to read her bio.

Why does Atoya need your help?

Atoya needs your help to level the playing field so she can continue her civil action against her harassers.

Here is a story recently published in Maclean’s magazine that featured Atoya Montague’s story and where she appeared on the cover:Macleans article

Atoya is paying for her legal fees out of pocket – she has sold her home, car and spent her life savings to do so. Off sick from work since 2011, suffering from depression and PTSD, disenfranchised and cut off from any support from within her organization, she is taking on this fight on her own. She needs your support with this journey. It is anticipated that it will cost Atoya $400,000.00 - $500,000.00 to see the legal process and lawsuit through court. Atoya needs our help. We're asking you to help Level the Playing Field so Atoya can get some resolution in this fight.

Atoya needs your donations to support this important cause that represents so much more than one woman’s plight. This is about female empowerment, it is about ensuring women in policing and other industries can be assured of a safe workplace where they are protected from harm, treated with respect and where harassers are held accountable for their offenses.

Do this for your daughters, nieces, cousins… your female loved ones – the next generation of women. Protect them and their futures by helping Atoya win her lawsuit and change the landscape and culture in Canada.

If you don't feel you can support Atoya with a small donation, please show your support for her on the Level the Playing Field - Support Atoya Montague Facebook page: Click here to be taken to the Facebook page

Any support you can give Atoya will help give her the strength to continue doing what is right and what is needed to bring about change and improve conditions for women everywhere.

Please help by donating whatever you can. This is not a cause representing one woman and we are asking you to band together to show your intolerance of abuses of power and stand up for equal rights for women in the workplace in Canada. This will be a landmark case that will bring much needed attention to a widespread problem in male dominated industries in our country. Be part of the change, be part of this monumental movement, and support the brave women who have the courage to take it on.
