Dog survives bullets and starvation to find loving home with Peaceful Surroundings Sanctuary in S.C. The gunshot wounds might have been enough to kill most dogs. And if the bullets didn’t finish the job, the starvation should have done him in. But this four-year-old beagle was a tough dog to keep down. As he lay beside the Bryan Texas Dirt road—a bullet lodged in his eye and middle ear , shattered broken bone fragments from the impact of the 22 bullet , exposed to the elements and running out of time—his luck changed. A good Samaritan found this injured beagle lying there near death. They named him Bandit.. This Good Samaritan can't keep the boy for long. They have 2 dogs and are being relocated for their work. Bandit needs to find a special home. The bullet can not be removed- It is too dangerous to operate on the bullet as it's 5 inches inside the skull. Bandit also is healing from 2 other bullet wounds in his neck that have an exit. S o he must live with the 1 bullet in his skull. He will need antibiotic therapy for a long time. He has some vision loss and neurological damage. Currently this little guy walks a bit sideways with his head tilted. The bullet is near the middle ear which will effect his balance. Our Pet Sanctuary has decided to save this boy. The Good Samaritan has called all over and no one wants a special needs dog. He is estimated to be 4-5 years old. We feel he will be killed if placed in a shelter because of his disabilities. John and I will try to give him the best medical care and love possible. He may face future problems with his eye, ear and also chronic infections. We hear this boy is a LOVE bug ... So we are going to add him to our Sanctuary ; John will be driving to Texas soon to pick up this little boy - Tomorrow he is going back to the Vet for more antibiotics and for irrigation of his wounds - The skull is still draining slightly but the neck wounds are just about healed. I have started a donation link for his medical Vet care/ transport from Texas and medications he will need; WE feel this boy does need us and he is just the type of pet that can benefit from our Sanctuary. NO Rescues want this baby as they feel no one would adopt him. Well, We will take him and I know our supporters will help us - Thanks for reading !!! I will keep you posted , Love Marie and John Peppers / Peaceful Surroundings Pet Sanctuary We plan on picking him up next week - the Good Sam will keep him safe - they have been cleaning his wound 3 x per day -
