As many of you know, Elijah “Meta Chyle” Rozier passed away unexpectedly while waiting for heart surgery. He had been fighting kidney disease for years and was in the process of trying to get on the kidney transplant list but the healthcare system kept giving him the runaround.
The system failed him and his family in so many ways. Meta did everything in his power to stay hopeful and qualify for a transplant. Years of being bounced between doctors, hospitals, and requirements. In the end, he developed an infection in his heart that escalated very quickly and he went into cardiac arrest on Monday night, October 13, while awaiting open-heart surgery.
He leaves behind his wife of 20 years, Anna, and their two children, Cypher and Sage.
Anna has spent years holding her family together through the financial hardship caused by Elijah’s illness. When he became too sick to work, she became his full-time caregiver while raising their children and running a small reselling business to bring in what she could. Between the demands of caregiving, the endless medical obstacles and the cost of living, the family was struggling long before Elijah’s passing.
Now, with his loss, Anna faces overwhelming challenges, both emotionally and financially. She needs help covering Elijah’s funeral costs, which were completely unexpected and have added to an already heavy burden. On top of that, she must find a way to secure a safe and stable home for her and the kids. Their current living situation has been super volatile, cramped, and it’s nowhere near a healthy environment for them to heal and move forward.
In the coming months, Anna will need support for basic expenses like rent, utilities, and food while she grieves and works to get back on her feet. The goal of this campaign is to lift some of that massive weight- to make sure Elijah is laid to rest with dignity and to help Anna focus on caring for her children and rebuilding their lives. Your support will also give her something she hasn’t had in years: the space to breathe, grieve, and care for her kids without the immediate pressure of having to hustle just to make ends meet.

Meta and Anna have always shown loyalty, kindness, and love to those around them. Meta was a big part of the Orlando Hip Hop community and the Hip Hop culture as a whole. He supported the scene however he could and lifted up so many artists and friends through his presence, encouragement, and his own art.
And Anna, in her own quiet and selfless way, has always gone above and beyond for the people she loves. I met Meta and Anna almost 15 years ago while co-hosting a local Hip Hop radio show run by our friend Conshus. They were big supporters of the show from day one, and over time, they became like family. I’ll never forget when Anna surprised me with a custom jacket she had been secretly making for my stage wardrobe. (I’m a Hip Hop artist-rapper/singer- and Anna is a fashion designer, and that jacket was the most meaningful gift I’ve ever received.) She put so much of her time and heart into it, working on it behind the scenes while juggling endless responsibilities, hustling to keep her family afloat, and caring for Meta and their kids. That’s just who she is- someone who gives, even when she has so little to spare.
This is our chance to return that love and stand beside Anna, Cypher, and Sage when they need their community most. Thank you for helping this family through an unimaginable loss, for honoring Meta’s legacy, and for helping them on this path toward a more hopeful future.
