My name is David Whorton, I am a 60-year-old single male Military Veteran, I've always been self-sufficient, working in the Austin Metro area, but rising gas prices, steady increase in my rent, and unavailability of more affordable housing caused me to have to move about 30 miles away from the city. I'm finding that there's not enough opportunity in this area and driving to and from the Austin metro area every day is proving impossible to sustain, as my vehicle, an old Mazda Tribute, 2005, needs immediate engine work and overall maintenance that I can't afford. I do live indoors, it's a glorified hunting blind with no running water and separate bathroom facilities. It's like camping with rent. I still feel blessed for what I have, but I need help because this isn't sustainable. I am in poor health. My age and lack of mobility because of joint deterioration keep me from doing a full day's work as I once could. I have reached out to the veteran's administration for help with these issues, but nothing is available for me.

   This is my fundraising campaign to return to the self-reliance and sustainability that has been, up until now, the trajectory of my life.
