Lucy was born in the driveway of her owners ,she also lived
there, with her Mom and sister. The little ones were running loose,
and crossing the street. My friend Mary and I being the passionate
advocate for the animals, saw them, stoped and asked the owner of
the house about these little ones. The owner didn't care for them
and they were in danger being hit by a vehicle so Mary put them in
her car, and took them home. Two days later, Lucy stop eating, and
began to be sick, and didn't tolerate no even fluids. In her way to
the vet, Lucy's heart stop, and thankfully to Marys training, she
was able to keep her alive, resuscitating her, until they arrived
to Animal Emergency Care. Lucy was hypoglycemic, unnourished,
emaciated, and weight barely 1.5 lb., at 2 months old. She was
immediately put on Intravenous feeding, and tested for Parvovirus.
Her test was positive. She is currently hospitalized and
under 24 hour care, under the watch of some very helpful doctors.
She's getting IV fluids and nutrition therapy to fight the
severe dehydration and diarrhea.
Her protein and electrolyte levels are being monitered and
regulated as necessary.
After 3-5 days of this treatment, her little body will have
defeated the parvo virus!
Staff knew was a race against all odds with this little baby. She made it thru the night, and at this time they are working hard to keep her stabilized.
