The XXIX  is taking place from July 28th - August 04 and will gather the world's brightest, most talented kids from around the world to share cultural experiences and compete for medals in this oldest and most prestigious algorithmic and programming international olympiad for high school kids.

Our team of candidates has been preparing itself for this competition by studying hard the IOI syllabus , Don't let their young age fool you. This syllabus includes bachelor and graduate late-level topics on mathematics and computer science. This alone is a great challenge for any highschooler. We believe the challenge is yet bigger in the Dominican Republic, as the country currently ranks 126th out of 138 countries in quality of primary education, according to the World Economic's Forum 2016-2017 Global Competitiveness Report. Apart from their talent in computer science, some of them are also very strong chess players, musicians and even Dominican National Youth Prizewinners ,

Our team of candidates was selected for their outstanding performance at our national Olympiad in Informatics , and are currently attending the national training camp at Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra, where they are being challenged by advanced training material provided by our National Olympiad Committee. In order to qualify for the camp, they had to outperform 47 other talented dominicans stemming from over 6 provinces throughout the national territory. The team representing the Dominican Republic, which will be composed of two members, will be selected on May 13th.

This year would mark the 3rd. consecutive participation in the IOI, whose first edition took place in 1989. WE believe that by facillitating the exchange of our students with the rest of the world is the most important prize of them all, as that alone allows our tiny island-nation students a chance to expand their horizon and become part of the next generation of global IT leaders. Nonetheless, based on our IOI results from our previous participations ( 2015 and 2016 ), as well as our Silver medal on last year's Iberoamerican Olympiad in Informatics , we strongly believe our kids have a good chance for a medal.
