The treatments have stopped for now. The doctors could not continue them due to the adverse side effects that the radiation and chemo were doing to TEY's body. He had 24 radiation treatments and 9 chemo sessions so far. The cancer has gotten much smaller, but having the radiation directed right on his neck, it has burnt the inside of his mouth and throat. The simple task of swallowing is now a major chore. The ulcers inside his mouth and ALL over his body from the burns are making life very unpleasant. TEY's cries to no one.."I cant do this anymore, I am sorry" can be heard thoughout the night..TEY is worried about his daughter.
TEY was diagnosed 10/21/2016 with throat cancer after it aggessively closed his wind pipe. Immediate surgery, removing back teeth and making room for air to go down his throat. Steroids started to try and slow the tumor from growing before treatments could start. Steroids caused paralysis of his limbs. Week of physical therapy to help him walk again.
TEY's weight is getting dangerously low. He does not want a feeding tube. He is trying to survive on runny eggs, applesauce and lukewarm water.
The doctors and TEY made a major decision about his treatments, it was decided to try and give his body some time to overcome the side effects and stop the treatments
TEY is unable to work, and the bills keep coming in. He must maintain the home as usual for he is not the only one living in the home. He has his daughter there.
I am TEY's sister and I am the one doing the fund raisers for him and his daughter. I have been with my brother for the most part all month, and it has been a very hard experience. To watch a once very active man, gym weekly, coahing softball, and working for the city for yrs and yrs wilt right before your eyes tends to change a person.
