In November of 2014, Brianna & Brandon Riley found out they were expecting baby Riley #2. On January 7, 2015 Brianna had an OB GYN appointment. We expected the appointment to be just a routine appointment. That all changed when she was taken down to the Ultrasound room for an ultrasound. She is 14 weeks along with baby #2.
During her ultrasound, the technician called her doctors nurse to come down & take a look at the monitor. That's when Brianna knew there was potentially something wrong with the baby. After the ultrasound, she was told that the baby's intestines are growing on the OUTSIDE of it's body. There are 2 types of this birth defect. Those 2 types are: Gastroschisis & Omphalocele At this point, her primary OB GYN is not sure exactly what type the baby has, so he is referring her to UAMS in Little Rock, Arkansas to see a specialist for high risk pregnancies & also specializes in these types of birth defects. Once we meet with the new doctor(s), they will order more tests to determine exactly which type we are dealing with.
This is where the long journey begins! And I am asking all of you to take this journey with us. If you can't help financially, I ask that you kindly go on this journey with us, by prayer!
We do know that she & the baby will BOTH be monitored very closely from this point on. Not only by the specialist, but also by her primary OB GYN. There will be lots of tests & frequent ultrasounds by both doctors. There will also be many appointments with a neonatologist that will also monitor the baby's condition, as well as work out a plan for the care & operation(s) that baby Riley will be in store for at birth & beyond. In reality, this is going to be very costly. I, as Brianna's mother, am asking for help from those who can & are willing to help with these costs.
ALL donations will be used strictly for this pregnancy & after the pregnancy. After Brianna (Bree) delivers & is released from the hospital, she will be spending every waking moment at the hospital with the baby. And as we all know, that too can be costly. She will need money for food while she's there, etc. I am just asking that IF you can help in ANY way possible, please consider helping my daughter & son-in-law.
