WHO WE ARE
Kindness Matters was established in December 2012. It’s a community wellness project aimed at helping those who are suffering under the surface and to provide resources to have on hand for others. Through random acts of kindness, we’re targeting mental wellness and compassion for others. You never know who can use kindness and support!
HOW IT WORKS
Help us share kindness and wellness information.
On December 31st, we’ll hit the streets giving out wellness packs randomly which include mental health resources (on a pro-active, reactive, and best practice /research level) from The Canadian Mental Health Association, Distress Centre Calgary, and 211 along with a gift!
We’re asking for donations of min. $5 gift cards (or make a monetary donation and we’ll purchase gifts). Other donations accepted include new winter wear, hand-toe warmers, travel sized games, or make a suggestion!
The thing about mental health is that you never know who is suffering. You never know when you’ll need a resource for someone else. That’s why we’re paying it forward to complete strangers.
HOW WE GOT STARTED
Suzana’s brother Ryan Rymak died by suicide and struggled with mental illness at times. This project began in honor of Ryan and all other victims of suicide. Even though Ryan had physical and mental challenges he did his best to thrive and share kindness. Thank you Ryan and others who support mental health initiatives and the kindness movement. Never underestimate the power of kindness!
