We rescued Nacho after he was found by a County employee chained to a
fence and badly mauled. We don't know who did it or why he was left
like this, only that he was. Therefore we are going to focus on the
positive: watching our boy heal and watch with amazement as a
community comes together over his struggle. He will get better, he
will rehabilitate and he will know a future that is bright, happy,
triumphant and glorious. I know many of you would like to find who did
this to him, punish them accordingly and then have sandwich, but the
fact is that we don't know who did this and don't know that we ever
will. Lets stay focused on his care as he trudges down the difficult
road ahead.
Nacho had surgery to repair about a dozen lacerations, mostly to
his face and legs. He had his wounds treated and stitched up and he is
heading home. He sustained some major injuries but their is no reason
to keep him at the vet any longer than necessary. Dogs who have been
through trauma (and those who haven't) can go kennel crazy relatively
quickly and it can drastically increase their chances of developing
separation anxiety.
"Macho Nacho" reminds us very much
of Sally, one of our greatest success stories. Same situation: white
Pit Bull, chained to fence and severely mauled and injured.
